The Annual Spirit of Giving Back to School Bash Will Now be a Drive Through Event

The Spirit of Giving is thrilled to announce that its 12th Annual Back to School Bash, will take place Saturday, August 1st at the Delray Beach Village Academy, located at 400 SW 12th Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33444 as an invitation only drive through event.

In these unprecedented and uncertain times, more families and children will undoubtedly suffer economically. Now more than ever it is critical to provide our children a sense of stability, security, and support as we navigate the waters of our “new normal”.

The Back to School Bash will provide local children with new backpacks full of grade-appropriate supplies, uniform shirts, new shoes, socks, hygiene kits, healthy snacks and more.

The Spirit of Giving—a collaborative, nonprofit organization with a focus on children and families in Palm Beach County—utilizes its 70 nonprofit member organizations for this event to provide supplies to more than 5,000 local at-risk children.

Lindy Harvey, Executive Director of Spirit of Giving says “Spirit of Giving is dedicated to helping thousands of economically disadvantaged children and their families prepare for academic success in the new school year. We realize this year, more than ever, these children need to feel some sense of normalcy.  We invite every member of the community to help by volunteering at the event or becoming a sponsor.”

According to the National Retail Federation, last year the average family needed to spend $696.70 to prepare just a single child for school, a figure that is the highest in the history of their survey.

This event would not be possible without the Incredible support from out Donors and volunteers. This year’s Donors include Great Charity Challenge, The Jim Moran Foundation, The Bathchelor Foundation, Boca West Children’s Foundation, Florida Blue Foundation, The City of Boca Raton, The Harcourt M. Virginia W. Sylvester Foundation, Vegso Family Foundation, Schmidt Family Foundation, plus many individual donors.

This event will utilize over 200 community volunteers that made help make the fun filled day run flawlessly.

Spirit of Giving relies heavily on donations as well as support from member organizations to help fulfill the needs of the event’s children. In Jacob’s Shoes, a non-profit will help provide new and gently worn shoes to disadvantaged youth, distributing over three thousand pairs of shoes to help students feel more confident going into the new school year. Bombas Socks has donated thousands of pairs of socks to help outfit the children. GIVT, a nonprofit has donated thousands of personal hygiene products for the teen girls.

It truly takes a village.
