St. George’s Center
About us | St. George’s Center emerged from a need to feed and clothe indigent and homeless persons and their families in the City of Riviera Beach, Florida. A feeding and clothing program began in 1989 with donations distributed in the parish hall of St. George’s Church. As the years evolved, the St. George’s Center program expanded to serve as a conduit for social, health, legal, educational and other human services. St. George’s Center was incorporated in 1998 with the purpose to provide meals to the community. Hungry individuals and families throughout the Northeastern Corridor of Palm Beach County are now able to enjoy a hot meal at lunch from Monday – Friday. A hot dinner is served from Monday- Friday and on the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of each month. Because of the ever-growing needs of the indigent in our community, St. George’s expanded its services to include clothing distribution, foot care services, a safe place to store mail and documents. Staff assists with food stamp applications and providing homeless declarations forms thereby allowing individuals to secure health care. Our clients have access to the telephone, fax, and someone to listen to them. Prior to incorporation, St. George’s Center operated exclusively with volunteers providing lunch and dinner meals for the homeless. Today it is a structured organization with an Executive and Administrative Staff in place. A majority of its services are performed by a well-organized group of volunteers coordinated through outreach programs from churches, synagogues and community organizations. |
