Distributing Food Boxes

The Arc of The Glades, in coordination with the Glades Initiative, has joined a Palm Beach County-wide effort to distribute boxes of food over the school Spring Break. Twenty-One pallets loaded with Forty-Two boxes, each containing Eighteen meals, or a total of 15,876 Meals are being distributed by our clients from our warehouse to eleven local Not for Profit organizations in just two days! These community organizations are delivering the meals to families throughout western Palm Beach County, particularly important over the Spring Break as it assists families who rely on the Free and Reduced Price Meal Program for a significant part of their children’s daily nutrition when they are in school.
This is a great example of the good work being done by clients of The Arc who participate in the Employment Simulation Project, volunteering at community not-for-profits to gain work experience, assist the community, expose the community to the potentials of hiring people with developmental disabilities and generating a job reference resource from a respected community organization. It is also an effort developed in response to #TheArcoftheUnitedStates and The Arc of The Glades’ joint collaboration with the #CorporationforNationalandCommunityService for the #MLKDayofService #MLKDay #TheArcMLK18 to address hunger in America.
